Custom Cat and Kitten Portraits

Brandi Jasmine is a cat lover, artist, illustrator and photographer based in Niagara on the Lake Canada. She offers three different types of custom cat and kitten portraits: Photographs, Illustration and Acrylic Paintings. Photographic Cat Portraits

Cost for day-shoot: $250 plus expenses (travel, film, developing and props) An estimate of final costs will be delivered to you via email - a deposit of half the agreed-upon price will be required in advance. This cost covers "snap-shot" sized copies of all pictures taken during the shoot, but does not include exclusive reproduction rights or enlargements. These must be negotiated separately.

Remember that animals have different reactions to new experiences. The temperament of your cat or kitten may be a significant factor in the success of the shoot. The calmer the pet, and the more time and more rolls of film that can be shot, the more likely there will be a satisfactory outcome. Photographic portraits are not recommended for cats or kittens that are nervous or excited around new people.

Outdoor lighting is usually preferable. It may be ideal to allow for more than one day to be certain of a successful shoot.

Remember that the background is key to an interesting portrait. As this is not a studio shot, you will need to consider your own props or background. Is there a pet-friendly park nearby?

Acrylic Paintings

This kind of portrait is more of a "cartoon" style of portrait. It is not "realistic" looking, it is more of a "country craft" style of hand-painting. You can purchase a canvas, t-shirts, mailboxes, even furniture with a portrait of your cat or kitten. Costs vary depending on the detail you desire, and the medium on which the portrait is painted. Email with your specifications for a quote.

Illustrations

Illustrations are a cross between photos and paintings. They are done digitally and delivered to you via email. You may provide a snap shot of your pet which is rendered into an airbrushed-style digital painting that is ideal for posters and gifts.

What you will need to commission an illustration:

1) Several good quality photos of your pet, including close-ups on the face and full body shots, scanned in and sent to me via email.

2) Tell me something about your pet. What are their little quirks, moods, what kind of personality do they have?

3) Indicate the size of the final print you want to have. It is a good idea to check with a service bureau or printer first, if you wish to print any size larger than standard letter size. Some will print to canvas, which makes an excellent quality portrait for framing. If you cannot find this service, let me know, for an extra $25.00 I can send you a print on canvas up to 8x10".

4) If you have a preference for a background, let me know - otherwise, I will use my intuition.

5) Choose a print-size that represents the largest size that you plan to have printed. You will be able to scale the images down, but cannot scale them to a larger size without losing resolution. There is a larger fee because the processing time for the digital output is longer, and because they must be delivered via CD, rather than through the Internet.

What you will get:

You will receive a high-resolution graphic computer file of your portrait that you can take to a local printer, to have printed either on canvas or high-quality paper. You will not have to worry about shipping damage, and will be able to use this portrait in any way you choose, including on posters, cards, and promotional materials. With this license, I retain full copyright to the image, but allow you ongoing reproduction rights. This means you may use the portraits for commercial and promotional use, and I may resell the image now or in the future for commercial purposes, including but not limited to clip-art, commercial use, posters, etc. By clicking on the following icon and paying for the portrait you are acknowledging that you understand and accept these conditions.
